Hotel

Once again we are at the magnificent Westin Lombard Yorktown Center at 70 Yorktown Center Lombard, IL 60148.  Directions are here.

We treated the facilities and staff great last year and made a wonderful impression and they are looking forward to having us back.

Once again we do need to follow the rules of the hotel and state so here are some (but not all) rules of the hotel and good conduct.

There are over 500 rooms in our facility but we could well sell out again so don’t wait to make your reservations.

Click Here to reserve a room online

This year our room rate will be $104.00 per night.  Suites are available for your usage at the rate of $159.00 per night.  There are a couple of "Terrace Suites" (read: balcony) available for the rate of $199.00 per night.  If you would like a suite for personal use rather than a party (see below) you must follow the same procedure to get one as the parties (again see below) but in the comment field of the form explain that you want it for personal use and it will be assigned to you.  ALL suites will be assigned by the convention.

Parking was not a problem last year as there are over 900 spaces and even more very close.

The facility is a NO-SMOKING facility everywhere.  This does NOT mean that you can sneak a smoke in your room.  If you do so the fine will be a MINIMUM of $200.00.  The place to smoke is outside the facility AT LEAST 15 feet from any doorway.  The butts must be disposed of properly in a designated container.  The staff and the city of our new hotel take this VERY seriously.  Breaking this rule could get you thrown out.

There is plenty of food in the hotel and nearby.  There are two fine restaurants and a bar in the hotel itself.  For the adventurous types, you will find 40+ eating establishments within just one mile (not including the mall).  If that is not good enough for you, the facility offers a shuttle bus to anywhere within 5 miles of the facility for free.

Parties are welcomed and encouraged.  Register by using the party form (will be up soon).  Remember: you must follow all rules of the state and hotel as wel — and we will be checking.

That's all for now but keep checking back for more details as they are posted.  See you at the convention.

RULES

  • Be courteous and nice to everyone at the hotel.  If there is an issue, remember we are here to help with the hotel; come to Operations and let us know and we will work with you to resolve it.
  • When we leave the hotel we expect it to be as clean and orderly as if we had never been there just like we did last year.
  • You must have your badge with you at all times to get into any con function.  If you don't have it, you can't get in.  If you lose it, it can be replaced at Registration.
  • Illinois is a "No Smoking In Public Facilities" state and our facility is a no-smoking one.  If you have to indulge your habit there are butt receptacles the prescribed distance outside the doors of the facility.  Those are the ONLY smoking areas — period.  People found smoking within the facility WILL have their badges pulled — period.
  • The only animals allowed in public spaces are life assistance animals that have their paperwork.  The hotel is dog-friendly ONLY.  The hotel has specifically said no to (but not limited to): cats, rats, ferrets, snakes, chickens, parrots, lizards, mice, spiders, gerbils, hamsters and just about anything with fur and/or scales.  If you bring your dog you must take it from your room for its walk and then back to your room.  Nowhere else.  You are also limited to one dog per room and you will be asked to sign a release form and you must give them a VALID and IMMEDIATE contact phone number in case there is an issue with your pet while you are not in your room.  Failure to do this could lead to your being asked to leave the hotel.
  • Costume/Weapons Policy:
    • Use common sense.
    • No real or realistic-looking firearms.
    • Lasers are restricted to Class 2 and below.
    • Blades and other edged weapons, sharpened or not, must remain sheathed and secured while worn or carried.
    • Keep all of the projectile-throwing toys out of the public hotel space.
    • Windycon reserves the right to prohibit any weapon, real or not, at its sole discretion.
  • WindyCon reserves the right to pull the badge of anyone not following the laws of the state of Illinois, the rules of the hotel, or the rules of the convention.

Remember:  behave well and you will be treated well.
