Chris Garcia

Christopher J. Garcia is a writer, historian and filmmaker from Sunnyvale, California.  That's the basic tag-line Chris uses.  He's a second-generation fan and has been going to cons since before he could walk.

Chris is probably best-known for his fanzines The Drink Tank and Science Fiction/San Francisco, which he co-edits with Jean Martin.  The Drink Tank has been nominated twice for the Best Fanzine Hugo Award and somehow Chris managed to end up on the Best Fan Writer ballot two times as well.  In 2007, Chris won the TransAtlantic Fan Fund and traveled as the TAFF delegate to the 2008 Eastercon.  Currently, he is the administrator of the American side of the fund and has been traveling the country running auctions and raising money for the fund.

Outside of fandom, or perhaps right next to it, Chris actively works on producing short films such as The Chick Magnet and The Last Woman on Earth, both of which showed at film festivals and cons around the world.  Chris has worked as a Curator at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, Calif. since 1999 and has appeared on ABC World News Tonight, CNN, the BBC and NTV-Japan speaking on various topics for the museum.  He is considered an expert in the areas of Video Games and Mechanical calculators.

All of that, and Chris loves piña coladas and getting caught in Bahrain.
