HOST A WINDYCON PARTY

Are you interested in getting people to know about your group outing, convention or event? Do you want to meet new people who share the same interests as you by socializing? Well then, host a party at WindyCon on November 14 & 15, 2008!

We are in a new hotel this year, so why not help us celebrate by throwing a party!! We are offering wonderful prizes for Best Parties, in five categories: Best Overall Party, Best Military/USO Décor, Best non-Military Décor, Best Drink, Best Friday Night Party. These prizes will include a free one night regular room for Best Overall Party.

You MUST register your party using this form.

Room rates are as follows: Regular rooms are $99 plus tax.

Suites are $159 plus tax.

Terrace Suite is $199 plus tax. (please note that terrace suites have an open balcony as part of these upper floor rooms, and as a result the hotel has asked that either a limited amount or no alcohol be served for parties renting these suites.)

Please contact Laura Dombrowski (click here) for assistance and to schedule your social event. A welcome packet will be prepared for you upon your arrival to the convention and Laura will be available to help you with all of your needs and requirements during the convention.

PLEASE NOTE

All parties MUST register through the Conventions Party Liaison, Laura Dombrowski, in order to throw a room party during WindyCon. Failure to do so will result in your party being shut down. Windy Con reserves the right to refuse a party to be thrown for any reason. This decision is at the sole discretion of the Party Liaison or Hotel Liaison. REPEAT: Any party NOT registered WILL be shut down by our Party Liaison or Hotel Liaison.

WINDYCON PARTY RULES

Welcome and Thank you for hosting a party at WindyCon. Below are some rules we wish you to be aware of.

Upon arrival please contact Laura Dombrowski, so that she can assist you with your needs as well as check over the rooms with you to document any discrepancies so you will not be held accountable for them.

  • Please help keep WindyCon Staff, WindyCon attendees and the hotel staff happy by following all of the rules set by the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center as well as following all laws of the State of Illinois, the Town of Lombard, and the United States Government. In other words…if it is illegal in the non-convention world, it is illegal in the convention world as well. Please respect WindyCon Staff, the hotel and the law.
  • Party flyers are to be posted on the racks provided throughout the hotel. Please do not put flyers on walls or elevator doors. The racks are available for your use to advertise your party.
  • It is the responsibility of each party or person serving alcoholic beverages to see the ID of the person you are serving. In Illinois the drinking age is 21. Parties not following this law will be shut down as well as face potential legal action if the authorities deem it necessary. Each party should provide some form of mark, hand stamp, wrist band, etc. to verify that an ID has been checked and the recipient is of legal drinking age. It is in each party's best interest to verify the ID independently of other parties.
  • Party hosts must act like responsible bartenders. Please do not serve someone who is obviously already drunk.
  • As of the new law in Illinois, all public property is non-smoking. Please refrain from smoking in any of the party rooms or elsewhere within the hotel. Please note that there will be a fine of $200 if someone is caught smoking in a party room.
  • Any and all damage to the room is the host party's responsibility. If damage occurs by one of the guests, it is recommended that the badge name, number and drivers license information is obtained from the guilty individual so that you may bill the correct person responsible for the damage.
  • Should you have a disagreement with one of your guests, please try and resolve it peacefully. PLEASE do NOT try to make ANY physical contact. Instead, defer to Con Security, the Hotel Liaison or the Party Liaison. Please do not ignore the problem of a belligerent guest either.
  • After the party, you will need to clean up. Please remove any and all posters and decorations. Food must be cleared and messes must be wiped up. Furniture must be returned to their original places. There WILL be a charge for an UNUSUAL amount of cleanup of a room!
