Video Game Guest of Honor: David Abzug
David Abzug has been playing video games for forty years, making his living off them for twenty-five and working as a designer for twenty. Like most video game designers,
he got into the industry through retail management, having first ran the BattleTech Center and Virtual World sites before shifting over to level design on MechCommander.
He’s worked on a variety of games, most of which involved blowing things up in one form or another. Some highlights include MechWarrior IV, MechAssault, Crimson Skies,
Red Faction Guerrilla, Red Faction Armageddon, Saints Row IV and the recently released Agents of Mayhem. He’s done design work in pretty much every video game design
sub discipline including mission, world and system design. The single exception is UI design, where his greatest talent is declaring the UI sucks and that’s why he
can’t play the game well. After all, it can’t be his fault!
David lives in Champaign, Illinois with his wife Erin and his two kids, Chaos and Mayhem. Well, Liam and Rowan but the nicknames are more descriptive.
